Recent Activities

This year has been a very busy year for the society. One of our biggest achievements was to have our own online membership registration and management, as well as a newly revamped website (www.hfem.org). Currently HFEM has around 104 active members. Our sources of funding come from the membership fees as well as from the training programs. This year (2017) we have managed to secure funding from the Social Security Organization (SOCSO) of Malaysia. Several training programs have been planned for the year of 2017, and all the programs are related the promotion of human factors and ergonomics in workplaces. Finally our most notable achievements for the year of 2017 was the publication of the “Guidelines On Ergonomics Risk Assessment At Workplace 2017”, as well as the development of a manual materials handling guidelines which were developed jointly with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health in Malaysia (DOSH) as well as the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia (NIOSH). The guidelines mark the starting point for future collaborations between HFEM and the Malaysian government in making human factors and ergonomics as part of the Malaysian legal framework.
