Background

This is a newly formed Technical Committee (TC) that evolved out of the Primary Industries TC to provide a special focus on ergonomics issues in agriculture. The committee will have its first meeting during the IEA World Congress in Beijing, August 9-14, 2009. We invite any attendees interested in learning about the TC to join us for our meeting, which will be held on Thursday, August 13th, 18:00-19:00. An outreach session will be also held on Thursday morning, August 13th, 10:00-10:30. Meeting rooms will be announced during the Congress.

Objectives

  • To promote the implementation of ergonomic principles, guidelines, techniques, and research findings in agricultural environments worldwide.
  • To act as a resource for the agriculture industry on matters related to ergonomics.
  • To provide expertise, advice, and guidance in the development of guidelines and standards related to agricultural ergonomics - (As appropriate, a working group (WG) could be formed to focus on a specific topic)
  • To be a platform for sharing information, ideas, best-practices, etc. among the TC membership - (This may be achieved through a TC "listserv" or "electronic newsletter").
